VVEISS [XMPC | NYC]
Currently engaged as one of a small ring of “party controllers” under the collective Xiao Ma, VVEISS delivers DJ sets that unpredictably traverse techno, house, trap, industrial, noise, and drone, all strung on a taut thread of brutalism. In live performance, VVEISS utilizes voice as an instrument of infinite versatility and nestles the sound within computer-generated compositions and improvisations at the intersection of tuning and timing. VVEISS’ Western classical, Hindustani, hip-hop, and hardcore roots, twisted by their encounters with Berlin club culture and the masters of New York’s underground, culminate in the craft of dark, percussion-driven ritual music with infectious gravity and hypnotic force.
Djing tracks that sound good to dance to. Mainly house and techno.
The legs in the video are about spirit dropping into matter. That energy is in a spiral and once it reaches critical mass it gains weight and can become form.
It’s a project about the J’ouvert festival, black diaspora and collective resistance combined with Be’s personal experiences.
Three Houses and Yearzero
The reuniting best friends playing silly YouTube and data moshing. Yonathan is visiting artist from Texas.
Mechanization of horticulture. Mass produced Home Depot orchids. The video is supposed to be a future quartz-based cyborg searching for pollen.
“I sing into a mug for 3 minutes and then put in Bergamot oil and swish it around with basil leaves, after that I pour in some Fernet and ice and it’s called the spicy voice cocktail”
